Educating in mental health

Program developed jointly by AMAI TLP Foundation and Primer Paso Foundation

Adolescence (10 to 19 years) is a unique and formative stage, full of physical, emotional and social changes that can produce a high vulnerability to mental health problems in adolescents. It is important to have a favorable environment in the family, school and community in general. To date, mental health issues are avoided; they continue to be highly stigmatized disorders, which makes their prevention and early detection very difficult.

Emotional disorders can profoundly affect academic performance and school attendance. Social withdrawal can exacerbate isolation and loneliness. In the worst case, depression can lead to suicide.
